Nvidia is the leading manufacturing company of graphic cards and has acquired its name in the gaming industry for its premium quality. Typically, Nvidia’s graphics cards have been quite expensive, however, in an effort to reach more users, they have released the RTX 4060 at a much lower cost. Unfortunately, Nvidia’s New Budget Graphics Card Won’t Change Anything.
Considering its affordable price, The RTX 4060 is an upgraded version of the RTX 3060 and it performs much better i.e about 120% better than its predecessor due to its innovative Ada Lovelace architecture, 3rd Generation Ray Tracing Cores, and DLSS 3 technology. This remarkable architecture and 3rd Gen Ray Tracing Cores let you light up your gaming experience with realistic lighting effects, shadows, and reflections in real time. Meanwhile, DLSS 3 technology can handle the ever-growing demand for training artificial intelligence (AI) models with ease.

Although the memory configuration it offers makes it one step backward from RTX 3060, like going from an escalator to a staircase – 4060 features 8 GB RAM with 128 bit while 3060 offers 12GB with 192-bit memory width. As a gamer, you can expect this card to struggle when running at higher resolutions or dealing with heavy textures and effects – it’s enough to make it choke!
The RTX 4060 may have an advantage with its 115W power unit over the RTX 3060’s requirement of 170W, however, that does not automatically make it a worthwhile buy. You might be getting a quieter gaming experience, but that doesn’t equate to a better one. While reduced power consumption can certainly increase GPU performance, it doesn’t do enough to make the RTX 4060 a must-have.
Rather, AMD and Intel have competing advantages in multiple aspects. The AMD 6700 is 7.5% swifter at 1080p resolution and 16.7% at 1440p resolution in comparison to the RTX 4060. It is noteworthy to recall that I noticed its betterment and increased speed at a 4Kp resolution, which is quite unexpected. For instance, while running games like Metro Exodus at 1080p resolution, the RX 6700 is 184% swifter than the RTX 4060 however at 4k it outperforms 109% better than the 6700. Although, the AMD 6700XT cost only a few bucks more pricey than $297. Additionally, AMD also contributes to the list of budget cards which includes AMD Radeon RX 6600, AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT, and AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT.
When it comes to Intel GPUs, Intel has cost-effective alternatives like the Intel Arc A750. Although it falls behind the RTX 4060 in terms of performance on a 1440p resolution, it compensates with its lower price tag of $250 delivering the same specs and features such as 8GB RAM.
When taking into consideration games that are set to come out in 2023, requiring high resolution and cutting-edge AI technology for image upscaling, texture enhancement, and voice duplication during gameplay, the specs and cost of Nvidia RTX 4060 don’t seem to measure up. With only 8 GB of RAM, the RTX 4060 doesn’t seem to be a good enough value.

I assumed that Nvidia had come to understand their mistake and was assessing how it could damage their image among gamers and cause a decline in its market value compared to their rivals. . So it’s introducing the RTX 4060Ti in the upcoming July, offering 16GB RAM with all the bells and whistles. Still, I believe it’s a little pricier than its features would suggest.
There is the belief of everyone that the Nvidia GTX 1650 is still the most popular GPU, it is also proven by the newest Steam survey.
If you have an outdated graphic card, it’s worth investing in a newer one as it will drastically increase your performance as well as provide a great gaming experience at 4k resolution. However, if you already have the RTX 3060, it wouldn’t be worth getting the RTX 4060 as it won’t make much of a difference. Instead, you should consider looking at other GPUs from Intel and AMD as they offer great features at a reasonable price.
